Can ganoderma for hypertension help much?

Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Ganoderma lucidum has antihypertensive effect. For spontaneously hypertensive rats, feeding Ganoderma lucidum mycelium significantly reduced their blood pressure and cholesterol in the liver and plasma. Recent studies have found that Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides can reduce the level of superoxide dismutase in aortic smooth muscle of hypertensive rats and increase the activity of superoxide dismutase.

These results indicate that anti-oxidant and free radical scavenging activity is associated with the efficacy of Ganoderma lucidum in the treatment of hypertension. At present, the antihypertensive effect of Ganoderma lucidum is considered to be related to the triterpenoids it contains. For example, the 5 terpenoid compounds Ganoderma lucidum A, K, S, and ganodermaol A and B isolated from Ganoderma lucidum, a 70% methanolic extract, inhibit angiotensin converting enzyme activity (AVE). High activity can cause high blood pressure. Therefore, by inhibiting ACE activity of terpenoids, can indirectly reduce the symptoms of hypertension.
